SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- The Augustana University women's basketball program received Letters of Intent from three student-athletes during the opening day of the early signing period, head coach
Dave Krauth announced Wednesday.
Michaela Jewett, Lauren Sees, and Jennifer Aadland have decided to continue their academic and athletic careers with the Vikings and will join the women's basketball program for the start of the 2019-20 season.
"We are very excited to be signing these three outstanding student-athletes," said Krauth, "Michaela, Lauren and Jennifer each have the skill sets and athleticism to bring them early success as college players. They have also distinguished themselves in the classroom. We are so pleased to have these three wonderful additions to our basketball program and to the University community."
Michaela Jewett | Forward | Brookings, S.D. | Brookings High School
Entering her senior season as a three-year starter and three-year letter winner, Jewett looks to continue the success she had her junior season. She averaged 13 points and eight rebound per contest for the Bobcats. She is a two-time All-Conference award recipient, and was named Class AA All-State, Team MVP and Brookings Register Player of the Year as a junior. Jewett recently eclipsed 2,000 set assists in her volleyball career and was an All-ESD selection her junior year. Jewett, a 6-0 forward plans to study elementary education and minor in special education at Augustana.
Lauren Sees | Guard | Avon, S.D. | Avon High School
During her junior season, Sees averaged 20 points, just under three assists and two steals per game. The three-year starter helped the Pirates to an eighth-place finish in the Class B State Tournament and an overall 20-6 record. Sees was honored on the First Team All-State, First Team All-Conference, KORN Radio Elite 8, and Class B All-Tournament Team. As a three-sport athlete (volleyball, basketball and track), Sees also turned in an impressive resume at the South Dakota State Track meet, taking second in the long jump, third in the 200M, fourth in the 1600M relay and her team took fifth, overall. Sees plans on studying secondary education during her time at Augustana with the hopes of receiving her master's degree to become a principal.
Jennifer Aadland | Forward | Laramie High School
During her junior campaign, Aadland averaged just under 14 points, nine rebounds, totaled 85 blocks, tallied 45 three-pointers made and shot 80% from the charity stripe. She was awarded First Team All-Conference, First Team All-State and Second Team All-USA Wyoming Girls Basketball, and hopes to carry her success into her senior season. Aadland is also a stand-out volleyball player and her team just finished the Wyoming State Volleyball tournament as Runner-Up. She earned All-State and is a finalist for Gatorade Volleyball Player of the Year. While at Augustana, Aadland plans on studying business or pre-med.
