FAYETTE, Iowa. -- Finishing up their first NSIC road trip of the year, the No. 24Â Augustana women's basketball jumped out to a 20-3 lead and never looked back en route to an 86-52 win over Upper Iowa. The Vikings pick up their fifth straight win and move to 10-1 (3-0 NSIC) on the year. Upper Iowa falls to 3-7 (0-3). Augustana is now 22-0 all-time against Upper Iowa.
The story of Saturday's game came down to Augustana's relentless defense. The Vikings ripped off 10 steals, forced 20 turnovers, and held Upper Iowa to 16-59 (27.1%) from the field. The balanced Vikings also saw six players score 8 or more points, with
Shelby Selland leading the way with 18 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 blocks.
Lynsey Prosser had 15 points and 4 assists, while teammate
Abby Hora finished with 11 points and a game-high six helpers.

Dave Krauth is happy with the way his program played this weekend, knowing it's never easy to get road wins in the NSIC. "Very pleased with this weekend," Krauth said. "I'm happy to went on the road and got two wins."Â
Overall, the Vikings finished with 22 assists on 36 field goals and controlled the game with 47 rebounds. The win marks the second straight game the Vikings have had 20+ assists. Â
The Vikings tipped off strong, with Selland leading the way early. The senior had 7 quick points as the Vikings built an early lead. Following a steal and Prosser three, the Vikings had pushed their lead to 18-3.
Allie Walter closed the quarter strong as Augustana took a 27-12 after the first.
Augustana continued to push the pace to start the second. Behind a full-court press and lights out shooting, the Vikings opened the second on a 23-5 run. Following a corner three from Hannah Metoxen, and back-to-back buckets from
Camryn Hay and Prosser, the Vikings lead opened to 50-20.
Janelle Shiffler, who finished with 8 points, also helped Augustana extended their first-half lead. The Vikings paired 59% shooting in the 1st half with 15 forced turnovers and Augustana led 56-26 at the half.
The second half saw Augustana continue to find success with their transition offense, with Rabb, Selland and Hora continuing to score and both pushing the lead to 67-36. Following another steal from the Vikings,
Katie Guentzel scored on a jumper for her two points. One of the games biggest differences was the Vikings ability to out-score Upper Iowa 46-14 in the paint and 20-2 in fast break points.
Midway through the 4th quarter, Walter and Hay both added to the score sheet as the Vikings pushed the lead to 30. By the final buzzer, the Vikings had picked up their 10th win, 86-52 over Upper Iowa. In total, the Vikings get eleven players on the score sheet and shoot 46.2% from the field.
The Vikings will now return to Sioux Falls to face Minnesota Crookston on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at the Sioux Falls Arena. Augustana will wrap up the weekend on Sunday vs. Bemidji State with a 12:30 tip-off.Â
