Barth and Blank Sweep NSIC Player of the Week Honors

BURNSVILLE, Minn. - The NSIC announced on Monday that Jordan Barth and Jacob Blank earned the NSIC Player and Pitcher of the Week honors. The Augustana baseball team is 9-0 to start 2018 and is coming off of a road sweep of Missouri S&T.

Barth, a freshman first baseman from Cold Springs, Minn., started in all four games at first base against Missouri S&T and went 6-for-15 (.400 avg., .667 slug pct.) with seven RBI, one home run, one double and three runs scored. Barth recorded 29 putouts and one assist with no errors at 1B. Barth had two hits and three RBI in both games on Sunday against Missouri S&T and is hitting .407 on the season with a team best .704 slug pct., two home runs and 14 RBI. It was Barth's first career NSIC Player of the Week honor.

Blank, a senior right-handed pitcher from Gretna, Neb., started game one against Missouri S&T and led Augustana to a 1-0 victory. Blank picked up the win after going 6+ innings allowing no runs on five hits with no walks and eight strikeouts. Blank improved to 2-0 on the season with a 2.70 ERA and 18 strikeouts in 3 starts on the year. This was Blank's third NSIC Pitcher of the Week honor after collecting two last season.

The Vikings are set to host Winona State in a non-conference matchup for Augustana's home opener. The Vikings and Warriors will play a doubleheader on March 10 and a single game on March 11.
