SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - With no midweek games originally scheduled, the Augustana baseball team has decided to take advantage of the spring-like weather in Sioux Falls and add a single game against Mayville State on Wednesday, April 11 at 4 p.m. at Karras Park. The matchup will be a single, nine-inning game.
The No. 3 Vikings enter the game with a record of 27-2 (14-2 NSIC) and sit atop the NSIC standings after taking two games from U-Mary this past weekend. The Vikings defeated the Marauders in game one, 3-0, and won in game two, 10-5.
The Comets own a record of 19-7 and is 9-1 in the North Star Athletic Association in the NAIA. Mayville State has won five games in a row and 10 of their last 11 games.
Augustana ranks first in Division II in winning percentage (.931), WHIP (1.05) and shutouts (eight). The Vikings also rank second in ERA (2.29) and hits allowed per nine (6.24), fourth in strikeout-to-walk ratio (3.29), fifth in strikeouts per nine (10.7) and seventh in stolen bases (83). Â
Augustana also leads the NSIC in doubles (55), runs scored (219), stolen bases, fielding pct. (.973), ERA, shutouts and strikeouts (270).
Unofficially, the Vikings will host a doubleheader Concordia-St. Paul on Friday, April 13 at 12:30 p.m. in Sioux Falls at Karras Park. Weather will more than likely alter the rest of the weekend schedule with a possibility of canceling the rest of the series.
