No. 2 Vikings Take First Two Games Against Drury

Augustana wins 5-4, 4-0

OZARK, MO.-- The No. 2 Augustana baseball team played the first two games of a three-game series on Friday against Drury, going 2-0 on the day with a 5-4 win in ten innings in game one, followed by a 4-0 victory in game two.

Game one started with an early drip of runs from the Vikings as they scored one run in three of the first four innings to take a 3-0 lead that held till the sixth inning. Drury put up three runs in the sixth to tie the game before Augustana got back on the board in the top of the seventh to take back the lead at 4-3.

The Panthers tied the game up yet again in the bottom of the ninth to send the game into extra innings, but the Vikings used a sacrifice bunt by JT Mix to drive in the winning run in the tenth inning.

In game two, pitchers reigned supreme early on, with no runs being scored until the final two innings. Seth Miller got his first win of the season in his first start of his collegiate career, a complete game shutout, going seven innings giving up just two hits on the day and no earned runs.

Nate Crossman got the scoring started in game two with a two RBI double to give the Vikings the lead in the sixth inning. Augustana added on two more runs in the top of the seventh with a Jordan Barth sacrifice fly and a Ryan Nickel double. Crossman had the top performance at the plate for the Vikings in both games, going five-for-six on the day with two doubles and three RBI.
