Game One:
In the top of the 1st, the Vikings made an early statement.
Kendall Cornick tripled down the right field line, scoring
Mary Pardo and making it a one-nothing game.
The single run would prove to be enough for Wolters, who pitched a lights-out performance. The junior maintained a no-hitter through the first three frames and ended the game with just two hits allowed. The complete-game shutout with nine strikeouts marks her best performance of the season.
Wolters is now 4-0 on the year with a 1.72 ERA.
A Shannon Peterson RBI double made it a 4-0 game in the third.
Maggie Dunnett showed off her flower power with a solo home run in the 4th, and
Maggie Kadrlik three-run home run put the game on ice. Cornick (three hits) and Kadrlik (four RBI) had game-highs for Augustana.
Game Two:
Ashley Mickschl started game two and was nearly untouchable. The NFCA Player of the Year candidate went the distance, finishing with a complete-game seven-inning performance. The righty allowed just three hits, two strikeouts, and one walk.
Mickschl is now 6-2 with a team-best 1.65 ERA on the season.
Augustana didn't need much offense in game two but found it in the later innings.
Taylor Bross doubled down the right field line to score
Becca Koupal for the game's first run.
In the 6th, Mickschl helped her own cause with an RBI, Cornick also chipped in another RBI and then Kadrlik split the game open with a two-RBI triple.
Abbie Lund also picked up her first RBI of the year on a single to center.
Augustana now takes the field for the final time in Florida on Wednesday. The Vikings take on Nyack (NY) at 10:30 a.m., and Millersville (PA) at 12:45 p.m. The 12-game trip marks the longest road trip of the year for the Vikings.
