SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- Following a week of site reversals and date switches, the No. 11 Augustana Softball team (34-7, 14-2 NSIC) is ready to wrap up a 12-game homestand on Tuesday. The Vikings will take on the University of Sioux Falls for a pair of games at Bowden Field. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
Most recently, Augustana won a pair of games from U-Mary on Sunday afternoon in Wayne, Nebraska. The Vikings collected 22 total runs and hit 22-of-47 (.468) in the two-game series.
Christina Pickett hit for the two-game cycle and drove in a total of seven runs.
Ashley Mickschl and
Amber Elliott both made starts, pitched well and walked away with a pair of wins.
Augustana remains first in the NSIC with 265 RBI, 291 runs scored and a .546 slugging percentage. The pitching staff has also been excellent with a 1.80 ERA, which is in 13th in the nation. Between the three pitchers, they've collected 255 strikeouts and held opponents to just a .194 batting average.Â
Scouting Sioux Falls:Â
Sioux Falls comes into Monday with an 18-19 (8-8 NSIC) record and a 6-7 mark on the road. The Cougars are led by Courtney Matthew in the circle, who has seven wins and a team-low 3.24 ERA. Lexie Swift is one of the Cougars best hitters, checking in with a .374 batting average and 14 RBI.
Augustana is 8-1 all-time against the University of Sioux Falls, including 4-0 at home. A season ago, the Vikings split with USF in the regular season but won the postseason matchup.
