The Augustana soccer team is looking to make an impact in 2019 after seeing positive results during the spring season. The Vikings are returning from a 2018 season in which they qualified for their fourth NCAA Central Regional in five years.
"The Spring has been really interesting," said head soccer coach
Brandon Barkus. "I felt like we were really good between the 18's, but once we got into more critical areas of the field, we kind of let down. I feel like if we can clean some things up, I am incredibly optimistic about the fall."
The Vikings Spring scrimmage schedule included matches against South Dakota, North Dakota, South Dakota State, Minnesota State, and Sioux Falls.
"For some reason, we had a tremendous amount of weird injuries that forced players to sit out the whole Spring season," remarked Barkus. "Between our group of strong returnees and our extremely talented incoming athletes, I truly believe this upcoming Fall will be a strong one for Augie soccer!"
In 2018, the Vikings went 12-6-3, with a 10-3-2 record in conference play.
