BURNSVILLE, Minn. -- The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference released its annual NSIC All-Sports Award, given to the institution who won the most conference-sponsored championships during the 2018-19 seasons.
Augustana won the women's award, totaling 112 points, defeating second place Minnesota State narrowly by 4.5 points. The Vikings took second place on the men's side, tallying 74.5 points. MSU, who collected 90.5 points, won the men's standings.
In the 2018-19 NSIC All-Sports Award overall standings, Minnesota State earned the award, knocking off the second place Vikings by 11.5 points. MSU tallied 198.00 points while Augustana had 186.5 points.
Minnesota State won four regular-season titles during the 2018-19 academic year, including co-football, men's indoor track & field, women's golf, and men's outdoor track & field. Augustana had another solid year winning four regular season titles. The Vikings took home the hardware in baseball and women's tennis.
The NSIC All Sports Award is calculated by awarding the winner of each conference-sponsored championship points totaling the number of teams in that sport plus one. The next place finisher receives points totaling the number of teams less the number of places from first place. Ties in the standings at any level result in the totaling of points and equal distribution.
