SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- Augustana Director of Athletics Josh Morton today announced the promotion of Senior Woman Administrator Ann Traphagen to Deputy Athletics Director.  Traphagen will also continue in her Senior Woman Administrator role for the Vikings, which she has served in for 11 years.

"Ann is recognized on our campus as a leader and valuable contributor in many areas.  I'm excited to work with her in this expanded role, especially as we plan for Augustana's 2030 Vision," said Athletic Director Josh Morton. "Her institutional knowledge and talent will help guide our department to unprecedented success."

Traphagen leads Augustana's athletics compliance department and is the sport administrator for many of the 19 sport programs within Viking Athletics.  In addition, she will now serve as a facility project contact and is a key leader in the athletics strategic planning process for AU Vision 2030.  She previously was promoted from assistant athletic director to associate athletic director in the fall of 2015.

A native of Kimball, S.D., Traphagen is no stranger to the South Dakota intercollegiate athletics scene.  Prior to arriving at Augustana, she served as the director of sports marketing and assistant women's basketball coach at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology in Rapid City. 

Traphagen also made a stop at Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, working there from 2004 to 2007.  While at DWU, she was the head women's basketball coach and served as athletic director (2005-2006) and assistant athletic director (2006-2007).

Traphagen enjoyed a successful playing career with the SDSMT women's basketball program from 1995 to 1998.  An NAIA All-America selection in 1999, she was a member of two final-four teams with the Hardrockers.

Traphagen earned her bachelor's degree in industrial engineering from SDSMT in 1999.  She went on to earn her master's degree in health and physical education from St. Cloud State, where she served as an assistant coach for one year, in 2004.

Traphagen lives in Sioux Falls with her husband, Travis, and their sons Grayson and Luke and daughter Rylie.
