The fifth player in program history to earn the top honor

AUSTIN, Texas – For the first time in her career, Augustana senior catcher Maggie Kadrlik is a first-team academic All-American. On Wednesday, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced Kadrlik as a member of the Google Cloud Academic All-America® DII softball team.

Kadrlik's selection to the academic All-America team marks the fifth Viking softball student-athlete to receive the award and the first since 2012.

A Psychology/Sociology major and a Child and Youth Studies minor, Kadrlik carries an outstanding 3.85 grade point average. She graduated earlier this spring and starting in the fall of 2019, will enroll at the University of Mary where she will work towards her Masters in Special Education and serve as a graduate assistant on the Marauders softball team.

On the field, Kadrlik earned All-America honors from both the NFCA and D2CCA. A 2019 national champion, Kadrlik led the Vikings in nearly every offensive category, while also ranking among the nations best. The Minnesota native finished the year second in both RBI (72) and home runs (19), and ninth in the nation with a .858 slugging percentage. Kadrlik also hit .437 while getting on base in more than 50 percent of her at-bats. Starting a majority of her games at catcher, Kadrlik has 258 putouts against just four errors and a .986 fielding percentage.

The Division II Google Cloud Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported by the NCAA and recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
