SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- The Augustana women's soccer team (2-1-0) opens its conference season this Friday on the road against Southwest Minnesota State (2-0-0) at 6 p.m. On Sunday, the Vikings will face off against cross-town rival Sioux Falls (0-3-0) at 1 p.m at the Sioux Falls Sports Complex.

The Games
The Vikings hit the road for the second-consecutive weekend after capturing their first road win of the season last Sunday against Northwest Missouri State, 3-2. Southwest Minnesota and Augustana open their NSIC seasons together while Sioux Falls starts with Wayne State on Friday.

The Mustangs
The Mustangs come into their matchup with Augustana at 2-0-0, after defeating William Jewell 1-0 last Thursday. The Mustangs got their first win of the season against Black Hills State on Sept. 8. The Mustangs trailed the Yellow Jackets 1-0 at halftime and tallied goals in the 78th and 79th minutes to notch the victory.

The Cougars
The Cougars (0-3-0) are looking for their first win of the season this weekend. Sioux Falls has dropped three-consecutive games to MIAA opponents Fort Hays State (1-0), Northwest Missouri State (4-0), and Missouri Western (2-1). Freshman Jaycie Dillenburg owns the Cougars lone goal this season.

The Vikings
The Vikings are 16-4-1 in the all-time series with the Mustangs and 9-0 in the all-time series with the Cougars. The Vikings are on a five-game win streak against the Mustangs and have won 16 of the last 17 matchups. During the win streak against Southwest Minnesota, Augustana has only conceded one goal. Augustana has outscored sioux Falls 26-2 in their matchups and defeated them last year 4-0.

Freshman Sylvia Fehr is ranked fifth in the nation, and first in the NSIC, in game-winning goals, with two on the young season. She also boasts a first place ranking in goals per game in the NSIC, while ranking 25th nationally. The freshman also has an incredible shot-on-goal percentage of .556.

Augustana was selected to finish second in the 2019 NSIC Soccer Preseason Coaches Poll. The Vikings also received two first place votes. Southwest Minnesota State and Sioux Falls were selected to finish in 15th and 12th, respectively.

One Last Thing
Freshmen forwards Josie Arduser and Fehr have been offensive juggernauts together for the Vikings and have been creating plenty of scoring opportunities. Arudser tallied a goal against Northwest Missouri State and has assisted on two of Fehr's three goals. Fehr has scored a goal in each game this season. The two look to carry their offensive prowess into conference play.
