BURNSVILLE, Minn. – Augustana sophomore linebacker T.J. Liggett has been named the Northern Sun Defensive Player of the Week the conference office announced Monday. The honor is the first of his career.
 
Liggett, a native of Rosemount, Minnesota, led the Vikings with nine tackles and forced two fumbles in the 26-13 win over Wayne State on Saturday. Seven of his nine tackles were solo while also adding a quarterback hurry to the stats sheet.
 
The second of his two forced fumbles directly led to points on the scoreboard for Augustana.
 
As a team, the Vikings held Wayne State to just 50 yards rushing, part of holding the Wildcats to 296 yards of total offense.
 
Augustana has a short week, traveling across Sioux Falls for the "Key to the City" game against the Cougars. Kickoff at Bob Young Field is slated for 6 p.m.
