SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- After sitting in fourth-place in round one at the Augustana Invite, the Augustana men's golf team shaved 25 strokes off its team score on Sunday en route to a second-place finish.

"A 25 shot improvement is about as much as I've ever seen in a single day," head coach Danny Sinksen said. "Just about everything went better, they took their time, and I feel like they showed their potential today."

Five of the nine Viking golfers improved from day-one to day-two. Sophomore Alex Stanz was one of those golfers and he stole the show on hole No. 4. Stanz sized up the 210 yard hole with his 7-iron and sunk it for a hole-in-one. The rare feat propelled Stanz to par the course and finish in a tie for thirteenth place with 72 strokes on the day and 151 overall.

Sophomore Jacob Lee, senior Cole Crawford, and freshman Spencer Ehlers all finished with 148 strokes and a tie for third-place. Lee led the way with a day-two score of 69 strokes.

"Jacob putted well and he hit his driver way better today," Sinksen said. "He took advantage of the par-fives and made a lot of those look easy today."

Jacob Zosel from Sioux Falls placed first for individuals at 146 strokes, just two strokes ahead of Lee, Crawford, and Ehlers. Overall, Augustana finished with 597 strokes, just six behind first-place finisher University of Sioux Falls.
