SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Augustana men's basketball team earned its first nod of the 2020-21 season with a preseason ranking of No. 13 in NCAA Division II from Basketball Times.
 
The Vikings tallied a 19-11 record in 2019-20 despite fighting injuries throughout the season. Augustana returns every start from a year ago, a team that saw eight players make a start. In addition, the Vikings return 87.9 percent of their points from last year.
 
Senior Matt Cartwright averaged a team-best 13.8 points over nine games before an injury derailed his season. Fellow seniors Matt Todd and Tyler Riemersma each scored 12.5 points per outing while junior Dylan Lebrun joined the trio in double-figure scoring at 12.1 points per game.
 
Riemersma, a First Team All-NSIC selection, led the Vikings with 10.4 rebounds per outing, averaging a double-double both over the entire season (12.5 ppg/10.5 rpg) and NSIC season (13.9 ppg/10.9 rpg).
