SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Augustana football team, who opened practice on Sept. 21, will conduct a closed scrimmage on Saturday as part of what has turned into Fall drills. The squad features 100 student-athletes including 24 true-freshmen and a leadership group of 10 seniors.
"The opportunity to practice with our players has never been more appreciated," head coach
Jerry Olszewski said. "Our development, as individuals as well as a group, is critical at this time as we missed spring ball and training sessions."
The Vikings, coming off a playoff appearance last season, will transition between a short skelly session, a short-yardage work segment followed by 40 minutes of live scrimmage on Saturday.
"As we continue to practice and install schemes it will be great to provide a game like scrimmage to raise the level of competition and allow the work put in result in having some fun playing ball," Olszewski added.
The scrimmage is closed to the public but stay tuned to Augustana Football on
Facebook,
Twitter and
Instagram for coverage throughout the day including video, photos and more.
