BURNSVILLE, Minn. – Augustana athletics tallied a league-high 70 members to the NSIC All-Academic Team the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference announced Thursday. Forty of those student-athletes earned the distinction of NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence.
 
"Our student-athletes make us proud and continue to raise the bar academically," Augustana Director of Athletics Josh Morton said. "To be sitting in first place in the conference all-sports standings on the competition side and to lead the league on the academics side is a testament to their hard work in all aspects of their life at Augustana.
 
"During times like this, as we have canceled spring sports and are unsure of what the immediate future looks like for competition, it's reassuring to know that our student-athletes are well equipped to adjust and maintain their academic excellence."
 
Augustana garnered 70 of the 692 total honors, which marked a league-high. When combing with the 86 Viking student-athletes from the fall list, Augustana has accumulated 156 NSIC All-Academic honors in the 2019-20 academic year, also an NSIC high.
 
To be eligible for the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence, a student-athlete must have a 3.60 cumulative GPA or higher, while the NSIC All-Academic Team members must have a 3.20 GPA or higher.
 
Additionally, the student-athlete must be a member of the varsity traveling team, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at his/her institution and must have completed at least one full academic year at that institution.
