3/4/2020 1:50:00 PM

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- The Augustana men's golf team is back in action for its spring season with two tournaments in a five-day span. The two tournaments are part of four spring events before the NSIC Championships.

"We're excited to play in our first event of the spring, especially being a Division I event," head coach Danny Sinksen said. "We are looking forward to seeing warmer weather and getting back after it.

"All of these early events get us ready to compete for the conference championship and playing against these top competitors will really test our skills and should motivate us moving forward."

The Vikings begin spring action Friday at the Jackrabbit Invitational in Boulder City, Nevada. The two-day 54-hole tournament will be hosted by South Dakota State at the Boulder Creek Golf Club. The 18-hole course covers 6,600 yards with a par 72 and water features on seven holes.

Augustana will compete against South Dakota State, Southern Illinois Edwardsville, Nevada, St. Bonaventure, Boston College, UNLV, Texas State, Fraser Valley, Missouri State, Stetson, Utah State, Southern Utah and Oral Roberts in Boulder City.

After Saturday's tournament, the Vikings take Sunday off and hit the links again Monday at the Winona State Warrior Invitational in Henderson, Nevada. Winona State plays host to the two-day tournament at the Stallion Mountain Golf Club. The 18-hole course covers 7,120 yards with a par 72 and four par-fives.

The Vikings take on Winona State, Concordia, Indianapolis, Central Oklahoma, Missouri Western, Regis, South Dakota School of Mines, Sioux Falls, Quincy, Minot and St. Scholastica in Henderson.

Last fall, sophomore Jacob Lee led the Vikings with an average course score of 75.89. He placed in the top-five twice and shot the lowest round for the Vikings with a 69 at the Augustana Invite in the second round. As a team, the Vikings lowest round also came in round two of the Augustana Invite with a score of 286, good for 2-under-par.
