SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- Champions in the classroom and in competition. On Thursday, Ashley Mickschl and Kendall Cornick both earned a spot on the 2020 Academic All-District® Softball First Team. Selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), the award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. Both honorees now advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot.

Cornick, a two-time All-District honoree, finished the year with a 3.94 GPA while majoring in biology. On the field, the outfielder recently completed her third season with Augustana by hitting .365 with 14 RBI and three home runs. For her career, Cornick has played in 136 games, racking up 138 hits, scoring 126 runs along with 58 RBI.

Cornick's career accomplishments also include the 2019 DII National Championship, Second-team All-NSIC, Easton/NFCA DII Scholar-Athlete and the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence.

Mickschl, also a two-time CoSIDA award-winner, is a Spanish major with a 3.68 GPA. The two-time NFCA All-America pitcher was off to another terrific start in 2020. The Junior was 11-1 with four shutouts, 71 strikeouts, and a 1.41 ERA.

Mickschl's career includes an impressive 62-13 record with a 1.81 ERA in over 460 innings. The Minnesota native has racked up 400 career strikeouts and 43 complete games. Mickschl's accomplishments include four All-Region selections, two first-team All-NSIC honors, Easton/NFCA DII Scholar-Athletes and the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence.

Due to the low percentage of games completed this spring, the All-District teams are awarded based on career statistics and achievements rather than this season only.

In the final National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) poll, the Vikings finished No. 4, with 352 points. The Vikings end the year with a 16-3 record and seven-straight wins.
