ST. PAUL, MINN. -- The Augustana women's basketball team, after starting the first quarter with an eight-point lead, fell to Concordia-St. Paul Friday night, 74-60.
Freshman Jennifer Aadland had a season-high 13 points with sophomore Lauren Sees joining her in double-digit scoring with 14 points.Â
The first quarter was all Augustana (2-3, 1-2 NSIC) with five Vikings getting on the score sheet.Â
Aadland started the second quarter with four unanswered points to give Augustana a 20-17 lead. The lead then changed multiple times before the Golden Bears were able to get out on a 14-0 run to end the half leading 40-28.
A 3-point basket from Sees cut the gap to just eight points with under three minutes remaining in the third quarter, but the Golden Bears (5-0, 3-0 NSIC) made another run to close the third leading 60-49.Â
Concordia-St. Paul held off the Vikings in the final quarter in the 74-60 contest.Â
Augustana won the rebound battle 43-38 with 10 offensive rebounds in the mix. Aadland and Hannah Mitby each recorded a team-high seven rebounds.Â
The Golden Bears were led by Riley Wheatcraft and Meghan DuBois who both had 13 points.
Augustana looks to split the series as the two squads meet again at 2 p.m. in St. Paul.Â
