MARSHALL, Minn.--Augustana Soccer traveled to nearby Southwest Minnesota State and defeated the Mustangs 2-0 on Sunday. The victory marks the third-consecutive win for the Vikings and the sixth shutout of the season. Augustana's record moves to 6-3-2 overall and 5-1-2 in NSIC conference action. The Mustangs hold a record of 2-7-1 overall and 1-6-1 in NSIC play.
Augustana took the lead in the 16th minute of the first half with a goal by Savannah Ellender from a free-kick. The goal is Ellender's first of her career in an Augustana uniform. Carlie Kray scored the second goal for the Vikings in the 47th minute of action.
Sylvia Fehr picked up the assist on Kray's goal. Fehr now holds the single-season assists record with nine, a record that was previously held by teammate Josie Arduser's set in 2019. Five of the nine assists were tallied in the last three games for the Vikings.
Goalkeeper Jillian Barkus notched her sixth shutout of the season after facing three shots. Barkus has started in the net during all of Augustana's matchups this season. With the victory, Barkus's save percentage increases to 0.820.Â
Augustana recorded 12 shots in the contest with 10 landing on goal. Kray and Ellender each tallied two shots to lead AU.Â
