SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Augustana women's golf team won the Augustana Fall Invitational Sunday, claiming victory by 31 strokes over second place Sioux Falls. The Vikings tallied 605 strokes over the two rounds at Elmwood Golf Course in Sioux Falls.
In all, Augustana golfers claimed seven of the top-10 spots in the field with all five point scorers within that group.
Natalie Young and
Molly Stevens tied for second place with 150 strokes each. Young shot 2-over-par on Sunday while Stevens was 2-over on Saturday.
Hanna Morin and
Lauren Tims, both part of the team score, along with
Masy Mock competing as an individual, tied for fifth place. The trip tallied 153 strokes to finish the two rounds 9-over-par.
Shannon McCormick, also competing as an individual, placed eighth with 156 strokes.
Kait Asklund was the final point scorer for AU as she placed ninth in the field with 158 strokes.
The final four Vikings in the field all competed as individuals as Annike Stensrud and
Rachel Schwarz tied for 11
th with 164 shots.
Rachel Halvorson and
Sophia Salter placed 14
th and 15
th, respectively. Halvorson totaled 169 shots as Salter tallied 170.
Augustana led the field of five teams in pars and birdies and held the best average on Par 3s, Par 4s and Par 5s.
The women's golf team has competed in three tournaments this fall and were victorious in all three.
The Vikings return to action Oct. 18-19 at the Midwest Classic hosted by Central Missouri in Warrensburg, Missouri.
