12/23/2021 6:28:00 PM

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Augustana football's Logan Swanson has been named a finalist for the Eighth Annual Cliff Harris Award, presented to the nation's top small college defensive player. The award represents players from almost 500 NCAA Division II, Division III and NAIA colleges and universities.

Swanson, hailing from Mankato, Minnesota, has been one of the best defensive linemen in the NSIC the past three years. Swanson, a team captain, earned All-America honors from the AFCA in 2021. He was awarded the NSIC Glen Galligan Award as the conferences top football student-athlete.

He led an Augustana defensive line that was the nation's best at stopping the run at just under 40 yards per game. Swanson consistently drew double teams but still managed to rack up 27 tackles including 21 solo throughout the 2021 campaign while totaling 6.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks.

Swanson tied a school record in 2019 with eight quarterback sacks while totaling 51 tackles. He is a three-time All-NSIC selection, while earning numerous preseason and postseason All-America accolades.

An overall winner for the Cliff Harris Award will be announced on Dec. 28 and honored at the Little Rock Touchdown Club's annual awards banquet on Jan. 14, 2022. The featured speaker is Joe Theismann.
