WINONA, Minn. – The Augustana women's tennis team won its 119
th straight NSIC dual Saturday while opening the 2021 NSIC season with a 7-0 victory over Winona State in Winona, Minnesota.
Augustana moves to 2-1 on the season and 1-0 in the NSIC while Winona State falls to 1-1.
The Vikings claimed the doubles point, taking all three matches. Freshmen
Valeriya Monko and
Florentia Hadjigeorgiou continued their undefeated start to the season with a 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles.
Grace Goble and
Laura Arce Vieyra teamed up at No. 2 doubles for a 7-5 win while
Emily Granson and
Aleksandra Kistanova prevailed 6-1 at No. 3 doubles.
Kistanova tallied the double bagel at No. 6 singles with the 6-0, 6-0 win as
Margarita Chouliara won by nearly the same margin, a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 4 singles.
Monko, the reigning NSIC Player of the Week, remains undefeated in her collegiate career with a 6-0, 6-4 win at No. 1. Hadjigeorgiou, Arce Vieyra and Granson also all claimed their singles matches.
Augustana returns to GreatLIFE Woodlake in Sioux Falls on Feb. 20 to host St. Cloud State and on Feb. 21 to host Minnesota Duluth and Sioux Falls.
