SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Augustana women's tennis team improved to 4-1 on the season Sunday with a 7-0 win over Minnesota Duluth inside GreatLIFE Woodlake. The Vikings, who have now won 121-straight NSIC duals, are now 3-0 in NSIC action.
For the second-straight day, it was all Augustana from start-to-finish. The Vikings claimed the doubles point with scores of 6-2, 6-3, 6-0, respectively, from No. 1-3.
Florentia Hadjigeorgiou and
Valeriya Monko, both freshmen, continue to impress in the early portion of their careers, holding a 5-0 mark in No. 1 doubles action.
Emily Granson and
Aleksandra Kistanova are also undefeated in 2021, holding a 4-0 mark at No. 3 doubles.
Monko won No. 1 singles 6-0, 6-1, while
Laura Arce Vieyra won No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-3. At No. 3 singles,
Margarita Chouliara won 6-1, 6-1, with Granson scoring the double-bagel victory 6-0, 6-0. Kistanova prevailed at No. 5 singles, 6-1, 6-1.
Senior
Rebecca Falkner made her 2021 debut at No. 6 singles, winning 6-1, 6-2.
The Vikings had their second match of the day postponed due to Sioux Falls' first match of the day running long. That dual will be postponed to a later date.
Augustana remains on its home court on Sunday, Feb. 28, hosting Minnesota State and Southwest Minnesota State. The duals will also serve as Senior Day for the Vikings.
