SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Augustana women's tennis team went 2-0 on Sunday in a pair of NSIC matches, although it wasn't completely against the originally scheduled doubleheader. First, the Vikings topped Minnesota State 7-0. The Vikings then defeated Sioux Falls 7-0.
Augustana celebrated Senior Day, honoring
Rebecca Falkner and
Grace Goble for their contributions to the Viking tennis program.
The contest with Sioux Falls was the makeup from the postponement from a week ago and came about as both the Cougars and Vikings were supposed to play Southwest Minnesota State on Sunday. Due to travel conditions for SMSU, it was unable to make the trip clearing the calendar for the makeup between AU and USF.
"It was kind of a crazy day," Augustana head coach
Marc Kurtz said. "We started with the cancellation of a match this morning because of the weather. We then ended up getting USF to play the postponed match from a week ago, so it was nice to get two matches in today.
"It was nice to celebrate Senior Day with a couple of team wins for Becks (
Rebecca Falkner) and G (
Grace Goble), and they both had singles victories."
