Tanner Brown Earns NCBWA Central Region Pitcher of the Week Honors

3/31/2021 4:10:00 PM

DALLAS -- The awards continue to roll in for Augustana baseball's Tanner Brown. Four days after the junior lefty tossed the second perfect game in Augustana history against Minot State, Brown has been named the NCBWA Central Region Pitcher of the Week.

Brown was in complete control all day and started the game off by striking out each of the first six Beaver hitters that he faced. His final stat line read seven innings, 21 batters faced and 21 batters sat down with 11 of them falling victim to strikeout. In addition, the junior only needed 86 pitches to accomplish the feat.

On the year, Brown improved to 2-0 on the mound with a 0.53 ERA and 20 strikeouts in 17 innings pitched.

Saturday's performance marked the second time in history that an Augustana pitcher has tossed a perfecto. Ross Hawley twirled the last perfect game on March 12, 2000, in a 1-0 win over Minnesota Crookston.

Brown and the Vikings are back in action this weekend for a three-game series against Bemidji State.
