Augustana Men’s Golf’s Jacob Lee Earns Second-Place Finish in Vegas

LAS VEGAS -- Augustana junior Jacob Lee parred the Stallion Mountain Golf Club (par-72) in Las Vegas, Nevada, Tuesday night, earning second-place honors at the Warrior Invitational. As a team, the Vikings placed sixth at the event hosted by Winona State. 

The aforementioned Lee came into day two of golf tied for 11th after shooting a 77 in round one. The junior then parred the course in round two (a five-stroke improvement) and finished in a second-place tie with 149 total strokes. Tuesday marked the fourth time that Lee has finished in the top-five at an event. 

Fellow junior Hunter Von Bergen followed Lee with a two-day score of 157 strokes while finishing in a tie for 18th place. Von Bergen shot rounds of 79 and 78, respectively. Junior Sam Sutcliffe finished with a two-day score of 158 strokes, just one stroke behind Von Bergen.

Freshman Cullen Johnson followed the juniors with a two-day score of 167 strokes while showing a seven-stroke improvement from round one to round two. Junior Alex Stanz finished with a total score of 168 strokes, just one behind Johnson. 

Freshman Spencer Wittstruck and senior Sam Mock shot identical scores in the tournament: 84 strokes on day one and 86 strokes on day two. Freshman Jordan Slagle followed the pair with a total score of 171, including a nine-stroke improvement from round one to round two.

The Vikings get a 20-day break from the golf course and will next compete in the NSIC Preview Invitational in Kansas City, Missouri, at the Shoal Creek Golf Course.
