SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- The Augustana women's tennis team had another impressive showing, this time coming at the Blue Jay Invitational hosted by Creighton University over the weekend.

"I was extremely pleased with our play this weekend," head coach Marc Kurtz said. "We won four of the six singles brackets and we were in the finals of another bracket as well."

Sophomore Valeriya Monko won flight A besting Nebraska-Kearney's Melisa Becerra (6-3, 6-1),   Creighton's Kate Krueger (6-2, 6-1), and Creighton's Sarah Wilcox (6-4, 4-6, 10-7).

Also playing in flight A was sophomore teammate Florentia Hadjigeorgiou who defeated Nebraska-Kearney's Becerra to place fifth (1-6, 6-2, 10-4).

Senior Laura Arce Vierya bested UNO's Ines Absisan in flight B, winning 3-6, 6-1, 10-6.

Freshman Gabriela Jancikova won flight C by defeating Alexia Di Giulio of UNO, Creighton's Malvika Shukla, and Creightons' Siri Kongara 7-5, 6-5, to win the flight. 

Junior Aleksandra Kistanova won flight E by besting St. Thomas' Brooke Hapuku, (6-1, 6-2) Creightons' Meredith Benson and Northern Iowa's Issa Sullivan 6-3, 6-3, to claim the flight.

Junior Emily Granson won flight F besting Nebraska-Kearney's Thi Huynh, (6-0, 6-0) and UNO's Addison Miller (3-6, 6-1, 10-6).

"We are playing at a high level and I'm looking forward to the ITA trip this week," Kurtz added.

The Vikings will return to action for the ITA Regional held in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, beginning Friday..
