SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Augustana Director of Athletics Josh Morton has announced the fall winners of the AD's Academic Achievement Award for the men's and women's teams holding the highest GPA during the fall semester. The Viking women's and men's cross country teams are the awardees for the fall semester.

"I'm pleased with all our teams for their commitment to distinction in the classroom," Morton said. "This award is one that allows Viking student-athletes to take pride in their work outside of competition and both the women's and men's cross country teams exemplify the excellence of Augustana."

The Viking women's cross country team tallied a 3.817 GPA while the men's cross country team combined for a 3.568 GPA.

"Having a balance of strong academics and strong athletics is something that we strive to attain within our programs," director of track & field/cross country Tracy Hellman said. "This award is another example of the quality student-athletes that are a part of Augustana cross country/track & field.

"The coaching staff is certainly proud of the dedication and commitment to excellence that our student-athletes strive for on a yearly basis."

The award, which was inaugurated for the Fall 2020 Semester, is given out twice a year to the highest GPA amongst each gender at Augustana
