DULUTH, Minn. – The No. 16 Augustana women's tennis team began conference play with a weekend sweep against Minnesota Duluth and St. Cloud State in Duluth, Minnesota. The Vikings handled UMD on Friday evening, winning 7-0. Returning to action on Saturday morning, AU beat SCSU, 7-0.
The Vikings move to 4-0 overall and 2-0 within the NSIC. The wins are the 130th and 131st straight in NSIC action.
Augustana 7, Minnesota Duluth 0
The Vikings started Friday claiming the doubles point with all three doubles teams coming away with victories. Valeriya Monko and Florentia Hadjigeorgiou won No. 1 doubles in 6-3 fashion. Laura Arce Vieyra and Gabriela Jancikova in No. 2 doubles and Aleksandra Kistanova and Emily Granson in No. 3 doubles both won by a score of 6-0.
AU put on a clinic in singles play, winning all six matches. Monko continued her winning ways in No. 1 singles winning 6-2, 6-0. Hadjigeorgiou claimed No. 2 singles going 6-2, 6-2.
Arce Vieyra and Kistanova both won their matches in No. 3 and No. 5 singles, claiming identical 6-1, 6-0, scores.
Chouliara came away with a 6-1, 6-2, victory in No. 4 singles.
The NSIC Preseason Player of the Year, Jancikova, secured a double bagel in No. 6 singles winning 6-0, 6-0.

The doubles teams remained undefeated on Saturday with No. 1 doubles team Valeriya Monko and Florentia Hadjigeorgiou cruising to a 6-0 victory. Laura Arce Vieyra teamed with Gabriela Jancikova, turning out a 6-1 win. Aleksandra Kistanova and Emily Granson continued the winning ways in No. 3 doubles also earning the win by a score of 6-1.
The Vikings continued to dominate in singles play with AU sweeping the competition.
The No. 1 doubles duo continued control in singles play with Monko winning No. 1 singles 6-0, 6-1, and Hadjigeorgiou in No. 2 singles coming away with a 6-3, 6-0, victory.
The Vikings put away 6-1, 6-0, wins with Arce Vieyra playing in No. 3 singles and Chouliara in No. 4 singles.
Kistanova raced to a double bagel in No. 5 singles going 6-0, 6-0.
Jancikova claimed her second double bagel of the weekend winning No. 6 singles 6-0, 6-0.

The Vikings have a busy week this week. Augustana starts with a nonconference match against Nebraska-Kearney on Friday slated for 6:30 p.m. match time. The Vikings then face Southwest Minnesota State and Minnesota State on Saturday and Sunday. The match against SMSU is slated for 1 p.m. while the match against MSU will be played at 10 a.m.
