ORLANDO, Fla. – The Augustana men's tennis was too seasoned for Stonehill as the Vikings prevailed 6-1 at the Oak Tree Park Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida, on Monday afternoon.
"The men played great today and I was happy with our fight and intensity," head coach Marc Kurtz said. "We started the match with singles first and we came out strong to sweep the singles.
"We have to rest up because we have three very tough matches coming up."
The Vikings set the tone with a sweep in singles play as all six players garnered wins on the day.
Henry Dornbusch handled No. 1 singles, winning by way of 6-2, 6-3. Justin Karcher tallied a win in No. 2 singles in 6-2, 6-1, fashion.
Cade Damgaard had a battle in No. 3 singles, going to a tiebreaker before coming away with the victory with scores of 6-3, 3-6, 10-5.
Nicholas LaPoint garnered his fourth win of the season in No. 4 singles, winning 6-2, 6-4. Joseph Plachy secured victory in No. 5 singles beating his opponent 6-4, 6-1.
Tyson Cowger won his fifth dual of the season in No. 6 singles by way of 6-2, 6-0.
The Vikings lost the doubles point to the Skyhawks, with Stonehill claiming No. 1 and No. 3 doubles, leaving No. 2 doubles unfinished.
