SIOUX FALLS, S.D.--The Augustana men's golf team begins its spring season at the Warrior Invitational in Las Vegas this weekend with rounds on Thursday and Friday. The Vikings will then stay in Vegas for the RMC Intercollegiate taking place Tuesday and Wednesday next week.
The Vikings
Augustana finished the fall season having competed in five tournaments. The Vikings saw a first place team finish at the UMary Invite on September 26 and 27 with freshman Will Allen earning the individual medal. Allen's win was the first of his collegiate career.
The team was selected to finish seventh in the NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll that takes place annually in the conference. Senior Jacob Lee was named the Preseason Player to Watch for the Vikings as he has led the team in several categories since his arrival at Augustana. Lee led the team with the lowest stroke average for the fall 2021 season with an average of 76.93 strokes per round. Lee is one of four seniors on the roster this season.
The Season
The Vikings will play in five tournaments in the spring including this weekend's tournament.
Following the Warrior Invitational, Augustana will stay in Las Vegas to participate in the RMC Intercollegiate Invite, hosted by Rocky Mountain College on March 15-16.
AU will end March action in Blue Springs, Missouri, at the NSIC Preview Invitational. The tournament is scheduled for March 28-29 and will take place at Adams Pointe Golf Club.
The team will host the Augustana Invite at Elmwood Golf Course on April 9-10 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
The final tournament of the season will be the NSIC Championships. The three-day tournament will take place at Adams Pointe Golf Club in Blue Springs, Missouri. The NSIC Championships begin on April 14 and run until April 16.
