No. 14 Viking Softball to Face Sioux Falls Tuesday

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – It's a showdown in the City of Sioux Falls Tuesday as the No. 14 Augustana softball team hosts Sioux Falls in a doubleheader. The first pitch is slated for 3 p.m. at Sherman Park Field I while game two has a scheduled 5 p.m. start.

The Cougars
Sioux Falls enters with a 17-15 overall record and 5-6 in the NSIC. Over this past weekend, the Cougars took 3-of-4 with a sweep of MSU Moorhead and a split with Northern State.
 
The Cougars are led by Kylie Madrid with her .368 average and 1.045 OPS. She has tallied six home runs and seven doubles. Kait Van Der Zwaag leads the squad with seven home runs and 25 RBI.
 
Sioux Falls has one pitcher who has appeared in 23 games in Hanna Cress. She is 9-8 with a 3.37 ERA. Bailee Lampan and Van Der Zwaag have also seen time in the circle with Lampman holding a 4-2 mark and Van Der Zwaag a 4-4 mark
 
The Vikings
Augustana is 26-7 on the year and in first place of the NSIC with its 10-2 league record. The Vikings have won seven-straight and went 6-0 over the last week with sweeps of Winona State, UMary and Minot State.
 
Mary Pardo was named the NSIC Player of the Week after belting seven home runs. For the year, she leads the NSIC with 14 home runs while hitting .375. Gracey Brink leads AU in the average category at .480 while Torri Chute is hitting .426. Not bad for a pair of catchers, eh?
 
Eight of the nine Vikings' hitters are batting .305 or better as AU ranks 12th in the nation with a .354 team batting average.
 
In the circle, Amber Elliott and Ashley Mickschl are both 10-2 on the season with Elliott holding a 1.18 ERA.
 
One Last Thing
Augustana holds the nation's longest home winning streak at 31 games. Currently, Augustana is 8-0 in Sioux Falls in 2022. The Vikings haven't lost a home game since April 9, 2019.
