BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. –
Jacob Lee led the Augustana men's golf team with a tie for 10
th place at the NSIC Championship. The event took place Thursday through Saturday at Adams Pointe Golf Club in Blue Springs, Missouri. As a team, the Vikings placed seventh with 925 strokes.
Lee tallied the second-best round in the tournament when he shot a 2-under-par 70 in the second round. He closed with 225 strokes while ranking second in the field on par-5 holes with an average of 4.58 strokes.
"I'm proud of my seniors," Augustana head coach
Danny Sinksen said. "They gave it everything they had. There were moments where we were in the thick of things, but sometimes the bounces don't go our way.
"It was an emotional finish for a great group of young men. I appreciate all the efforts this team put in."
Hunter Von Bergen placed in a tie for 26
th with 232 strokes. He opened with a 76 and closed with back-to-back rounds of 78.
Alex Stanz tied for 31
st with rounds of 79-76-80 to total 235 strokes.
Will Allen, making his NSIC Championship debut, placed in a tie for 34
th. He totaled 236 strokes over the three rounds.
The final finisher for AU was
Sam Sutcliffe with 240 strokes in a tie for 41
st.
Concordia-St. Paul won the NSIC Championship with 882 strokes at 18-over-par. The Vikings 925 shots were based on rounds of 308-304-313.
Four seniors concluded their careers at the NSIC Championship as Lee, Stanz, Sutcliffe and Von Bergen all exhaust their athletic eligibility.
