SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – It may be June but football is in the news as Lindy's Sports college football national preview has ranked the Augustana football team No. 20 in Division II while Eli Weber was given a preseason Second Team All-America honor.
 
The annual college football preview issue recently hit newsstands across the nation.
 
The Vikings are coming off a campaign in 2021 that saw them win the NSIC Championship, NSIC South Division Championship and advance to the NCAA Division II Playoffs for the second-straight year. Augustana completed the year with a 9-3 record.
 
Weber, a First Team All-NSIC honoree, started all 12 games at defensive back last season. He totaled 63 tackles with seven of those going for a loss. The Dawson, Minnesota, native also intercepted a pair of passes, returning for 51 yards.
 
Combining his on-field talent and strength in the classroom, Weber earned a spot on the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team for the second-straight season.
 
At the annual spring game this past April, Weber was announced as one of four team captains for the 2022 season.
 
Augustana opens the 2022 campaign at Concordia-St. Paul on Sept. 1. The home opener is slated for Sept. 10 at 1 p.m. against Bemidji State.
