ST. PAUL, Minn.--Augustana soccer defeated the Concordia-St. Paul Golden Bears in the NSIC opener, 1-0. The Vikings earned their first win of the season and served CSP their third shutout loss. Augustana improves to 1-2-1 and Concordia-St. Paul drops to 0-3-1 on the season.

The Vikings totaled five shots on goal and 12 total shots while Concordia-St. Paul also sent five shots towards the goal with 10 total shots.

CHANCE (AU) 17'- Grace Douglas had the first scoring opportunity for the Vikings in the first half, marking the first shot of the game for Augustana.

GOAL (AU) 21'- Morgan Keirstead sent a rocket past the CSP goalkeeper from 18 yards out after a smooth pass from Kelly Kleekamp split the Golden Bear's defense. The assist is Kleekamp's second of the season.

CHANCE (CSP) 46' - Concordia-St. Paul had the first scoring chance of the second half from a corner kick but after the ball bounced around in front of the goal, the Golden Bears were unable to take a solid shot and the score remained 1-0.

CHANCE (CSP) 52'- The Golden Bears saw another opportunity in the second half when the forward took a shot from the top right corner of the box and the ball went in the net, but the goal was called off by the referee after a CSP player was called offside.

CHANCE (CSP) 64'- A Concordia-St.Paul forward had a scoring chance in the box after being fed the ball by a CSP midfielder. Shea Ellender was in between the net and the Golden Bear and was able to deflect the ball away.

CHANCE (CSP) 66'- A free kick just outside the box gave the Golden Bears an advantage but Ellie Schock defended the goal and cleared the ball out of the defensive zone to keep the Vikings in the lead.

Jillian Barkus stopped five shots on target to help the Vikings to victory. The Vikings goalkeeper was solid in the net, securing a shutout win.

Augustana travels to Mankato, Minnesota, on Sunday for a contest with No. 11 Minnesota State. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m.
