Maryland Heights, Mo. – Augustana hockey (4-4-1) came away with a Friday night overtime win over Lindenwood (1-6-2) by a score of 4-3 inside the Centene Community Ice Center. A two-goal performance by junior forward
Luke Mobley, playing in his 100th career NCAA game, helped the Vikings secure the win.
Viking hockey didn't wait long to open up the scoring as
Callum Gau beat a Lindenwood defender to redirect a
Simon Falk pass into the back of the net. LU battled back midway through the first frame as Cade Destefani fired one in off a Lions' faceoff win.Â
Arnaud Vachon didn't let the Lions goal affect Augustana's momentum as he skated the rubber into the offensive zone to wire one past Trent Burnham's blocker to regain the Vikings' lead.Â
LU answered late in the second period as Caige Sterzer beat the Vikings' defenseman in a one on one battle before tucking the puck past
Zack Rose's blocker. Mobley rang the bell less than a minute later as he scored his first of the night.Â
Lindenwood fought back as Caleb Price squared the game at three apiece off a shot through traffic from the point. LU found momentum after tying the game but Rose stood tall as the game went to overtime.Â
Fifty-five seconds into overtime,
Luke Mobley called the game as he worked his way off the wall and through the Lions defense into the slot where he put the ribber top-shelf to score his second of the night.Â
