Augustana faces Northern Michigan in two-game series

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Augustana's inaugural season is presented by First PREMIER Bank / PREMIER Bankcard as Viking hockey hits the road once again to face CCHA opposition Northern Michigan.

The Friday, Saturday series is set for a 6:07 p.m. (CST) and 5:07 p.m. (CST) inside the Berry Events Center. Both games will be streamed on FloHockey.
 
The Wildcats
Northern Michigan (6-7-1) have been on a roll throughout the month of November, as it has won 5-6 games over notable teams in Lake Superior State, Alaska Fairbanks, and Bowling Green.
 
The Wildcats are led by captain Andre Ghantous who has totaled 17 points by way of four goals and 13 assists.
 
NMU is scoring a majority of its goals in the second period as 22 of its 41 have come in the second frame.
 
The Vikings
Augustana (4-7-1) is led by Junior forward Luke Mobley with a team-high nine points by way of five goals and four assists. Mobley Is joined by Uula Ruikka with eight points and Jack Jensen and Ryan Naumovski with seven points.
 
AU is averaging 28.8 shots on goal a game, Ruikka leads the team with 34 shots. The Vikings' have scored 33 goals this season with 10 coming on the power play and 16 coming in the first period. Augustana is converting .204 percent of the time when on the man-advantage.
 
Head coach Garrett Raboin announced captains last week ahead of the Vikings' weekend series against Omaha. Arnaud Vachon was named the first captain in program history with Mobley and Shay Donovan named as assistant captain.
 
Vachon, a graduate senior came to Augustana after captaining the Colgate Raiders to an ECAC Championship last year.
 
One Last Thing
Assistant coach Chad Demers made his return to the bench last weekend after recovering from brain surgery. The Grafton, N.D. native battled Grade IV Glioblastoma in 2018 and has undergone various treatments over the past five years.
