MEQUON, Wis. – The Augustana acrobatics & tumbling team won its first-ever event Sunday by topping Concordia-Wisconsin, 261.805-239.940, Sunday afternoon in Mequon, Wisconsin. The win comes over the reigning DIII NCATA Invitational Champions as the Vikings claim their first win in just their second event.

The meet got underway with the Vikings tallying 36.550 points in the compulsory, outpacing the home Falcons who scored 32.500 points. Augustana tallied its highest heat score in the pyramid heat with 9.750 points.

In the acro, Augustana recorded 26.45 points, once again outpacing the home squad who recorded 20.15 points. The Vikings had their highest heat in the seven-element heat three where they tallied 9.150 points.

In the final event before halftime, Augustana totaled 28.40 points in the pyramid compared to the Falcons' 28.35. Augustana entered the intermission leading 91.40-81.00.

The fourth event of the afternoon was the toss that saw the Falcons come out with the event win at 27.05-26.35.

In the tumbling, Augustana pulled away from Concordia-Wisconsin, outscoring the Falcons 51.975-45.900 in the event.
Paige Simon had a strong showing in the aerial pass, totaling 9.275 points out of a possible 9.40. In the six-element pass,
Kay Greene recorded 8.675 points with a start value of 8.90. The final heat, the open pass,
McKenna Trowbridge recorded a 9.325 out of 9.5. With that score, she'll be in the running for the NCATA Freshman of the Week.

In the final event, the team event, Augustana improved upon its inaugural meet score by more than three points. The Vikings recorded 92.090 in the team event while Concordia-Wisconsin recorded 85.990 points.

The Vikings again have a two-week break before embarking on their next competition at Quinnipiac in Hamden, Connecticut, on March 5. Just two days later, AU competes at Caldwell in Caldwell, New Jersey.
