MINOT, N.D. – The Augustana softball team split with Minot State Friday with a 4-2 win in game one and a 4-3, walk-off loss, in game two. Augustana is now 19-10 on the season and 6-2 in the NSIC. Minot State is 17-13, 4-4.

Game One: Augustana 4, Minot State 2
Augustana totaled nine hits in the contest with
Andrea Cain going 4-for-4 with two runs scored. She got the game started with a leadoff triple into right field and was pushed across home plate thanks to a single by
Gracey Brink.

Minot State countered in the bottom of the first by plating two runs.

That score would hold until the third inning when
Torri Chute knotted things up by driving in
Abby Lien with a double to left field.
Â
The Vikings broke open the tie in the fifth inning as Cain homered to straight-away center field. The final run of the game came off Chute's bat as she doubled in Lien for the second time in the game.

Hailey Houston moved to 10-2 on the season with the complete-game victory. She struck out six hitters while allowing seven hits.

Game Two: Minot State 4, Augustana 3
Augustana was on the wrong side of the walk off as the Beavers loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh and scored on a sacrifice fly to center field.

Prior to that, Augustana took a 1-0 lead in the third inning as
Torri Chute doubled in
Gracey Brink. The lead moved to 2-0 in the fourth as
Sydney Herbert singled into left field to score
Ashton Dorman who was on base after a triple to right field.

The Vikings then led 3-0 after five complete with
Gracey Brink scoring on an error from the shortstop.
Â
The Beavers then made their comeback beginning in the sixth inning with three runs before the final walk-off.

Augustana recorded 12 hits in the contest with Brink,
Abby Lien and Dorman each recording two each.

Lexi Lander had the start in the circle for AU, allowing nine hits and just one earned run. She is now 7-6 on the year.

The Vikings remain in Minot, North Dakota to face UMary in the Minot Dome. First pitch will take place after the Beavers host Wayne State with an estimated time of 12:30 p.m.
