LEXINGTON, Ky – The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) and the United States Marine Corps (USMC) announced Thursday that the Augustana volleyball team has earned the 2022- 23 AVCA Team Academic Award.
This is the seventh year in a row that Augustana has earned this award. This past year, the Vikings finished the 2022-23 school year with a 3.81 team GPA.
The award, initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale or 4.10 on a 5.0 scale.
The Vikings are one of more than 1,200 teams to earn the award in 2022-23.
"Augustana's academic curriculum is extremely rigorous and our team consistently being awarded with the AVCA Team Academic Award is priceless," said Augustana volleyball head coach, Jennifer Jacobs. "I am even more proud of the team to be one of eight from our conference in the top 20% of team GPAs for all of Division II volleyball, as indicated by being on the honor roll.
"These women are so committed to their academic journey and they have much to be proud of!"
Augustana will begin its 2023 season at the Oredigger Classic in Golden, Colorado, on September 1, opening competition against Findlay.
