Allen Named Vikings’ Golfer to Watch as Part of Preseason Release

8/24/2023 10:02:00 AM

BURNSVILLE, Minn. – Augustana men's golfer Will Allen was named the Vikings' Golfer to Watch by the NSIC Thursday as part of the NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll that saw AU tabbed to finish seventh. Allen will be a junior in 2023-24 after earning second team all-conference honors in 2022-23.

"We have our entire team returning from last year and with that, a lot more experience on our team," Augustana head coach Mike Krsnak said. "Last year we were a young team with three freshmen and a sophomore as part of our lineup, this year, we have a senior with those four each advancing a year."

Allen led Augustana with a 77.0 stroke average over 11 total events (10 tournaments) last season. He finished three rounds at or under par with a season-low of 71 at the Hardrocker Invite and Bemidji State Invite on back-to-back weekends. In all, he totaled five of Augustana's eight lowest scores from a year ago.

Augustana also welcomes back Jacob Stewart for his sophomore campaign as he ranked second on the team with a 77.9 stroke average including the team's lowest score with a nice round of 69 at the Bemidji State Invitational.

The Vikings open 2023-24 at the Bemidji State Invite Sept. 11-12 and compete in five total events in the fall portion of the schedule. Locally, AU will partake in the USF Invitational in Larchowood, Iowa.
