Augustana Soccer Opens Up League Play This Weekend

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – No. 20 Augustana soccer opens up league play with a Friday 4 p.m. matchup against No. 7 Minnesota State Mankato and Sunday against Winona State at 1 p.m. 

Augustana will be celebrating a handful of promotions throughout this weekend's affairs. The first 150 fans at Friday's game against Mankato will be given a Vuvuzela. After Friday's match, the Vikings will be hosting Pups in the Park, Sunday where every dog will be given an Augustana branded frisbee.

The Mavericks
No. 7 MSU (2-1-1) returned senior goalkeeper Mackenzie Rath, the Pierre, S.D. native ranked fifth in the nation last season in shutouts with 11. Rath has opened up the 2023 campaign with a 2-1-0 record, making 19 saves through four games. 

The Mavericks added nine signees, with three hailing from Iowa, South Dakota, and Michigan and six others from throughout Minnesota. The nine signees joined an MSU team that went 14-2-6 last season and made the NCAA Regionals. 

The Warriors
WSU (1-1-1) returned top midfielder Reanne Weil, an NSIC Offensive Player to Watch for the Warriors who will look to lead her team after scoring three goals last season. Junior Callie Menzel will look to assist the defensive blockade, as she played a crucial role in WSU defense who only allowed 1.05 goals per game last season. 

The Vikings
No. 20 Augustana (2-1-1) is coming off a strong affair against Fort Hays State, where they played to a 0-0 stalemate. 

Jillian Barkus recorded her third clean sheet of the season in Sunday's tie, making three saves throughout 90 minutes of play. 

Hope Korte continues her impressive Senior campaign as she ranks second in the nation in game-winning goals with two. Korte entered the season with one career point and she has tripled production through four games, recording three points this season.

Redshirt Freshmen Paige Bracker recorded her first career goal in Augustana's loss to Northwest Missouri State. Bracker hails from Underwood, Iowa.
