Three Join Volleyball Signing Class of 2025

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Augustana volleyball head coach Jennifer Jacobs announced the signing of three future Vikings for the incoming freshmen class of 2025 on Wednesday, welcoming Clara Hoegh, Karalynn Leach and Ava Tiahrt.
 
Coach Jacobs on the class: The 2025 class for us may be small in stature, but they play BIG. They are dynamic, fast, and mighty. With infectious smiles, they come with killer mindsets the fans will find easy to rally behind. The three together will give us a nice offensive and defensive balance to the current squad, we are excited to have them!"

Clara Hoegh | Setter | Hull, Iowa | Boyden-Hull High School
High School: Hoegh is a four-year letterwinner and starter for Boyden-Hull High School, collecting all-conference recognitions all four year, including an honorable mention as an eighth grader and a unanimous first-team selection as a senior. In her senior season, Hoegh hit the 3,000-career assist and 1,000-career dig marks while helping her team to their second straight state tournament. 
 
Personal: She is the daughter of Owen and Leah Heogh and plans to major in nursing while at Augustana.
 
Coach Jacobs on Hoegh: "Clara has a quintessential setter mindset and is going to bring a wealth of knowledge to our gym. She is competitive, fierce, and a positive force that knows how to get the job done."
Karalynn Leach | Rightside | Sioux Falls, S.D. | Harrisburg High School
High School: Three-year letterwinner and starter for Harrisburg High School with team captain honors her junior and senior seasons. She helped her team to back-to-back state champions in 2022 and 2023 and accrued an undefeated 26-0 record in 2024.
 
Personal: She is the daughter of Jason and Bridget Leach and plans to major in Elementary Education while at Augustana
 
Coach Jacobs on Leach: "Kara can jump out of the gym, she's a high flyer who has fiery energy on the court. The fans are going to fall in love with her!"
Ava Tiahrt | Defensive Specialist/Libero | Renner, S.D. | Baltic High School
High School: Two-year letterwinner and stater for Baltic High School, earning team captain distinction in her senior season and was named defensive MVP in 2023.
 
Personal: She is the daughter of Tim and Stacy Tiahrt and plans to major in either business marketing or administration while at Augustana.
 
Coach Jacobs on Tiahrt: "Don't let her quiet nature fool you, Ava is STRONG. This incoming player is fast, athletic, and determined.  We are excited to have her on the squad!"
