Viking Hockey Drops Friday Game in Overtime

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Augustana hockey team (4-5, 1-2 CCHA) dropped a Friday night game on home ice to Bemidji State (4-4, 3-2 CCHA) in overtime by a score of 4-3. Luke Mobley, Joey DelGreco and Tyler Hennen netted goals in Friday's loss.

Augustana played from behind through parts of Friday's game. A late third-period goal by T. Hennen forced overtime, during which the Beavers' defenseman Vince Corcoran netted the game-winner 28 seconds into overtime.

In its second-ever weekend meeting, Bemidji State jumped out to an early 1-0 lead as Reilly Funk tipped in Isa Parekh's shot. Augustana was hit with a two-minute minor penalty 11:18 into the frame, but the Vikings killed the penalty successfully. With just over a minute remaining in the first frame, Mobley tipped in his fifth goal of the season off a shot from Hayden Hennen

Bemidji State regained the lead 11:15 into the second period as Donte Lawson broke away from a scrum along the boards and wired one past Josh Kotai's blocker. Bemidji State's lead lasted seven minutes as Delgreco walked the blue line and through a Beaver's forward to net his second of the season past the goaltender's blocker.

Bemidji State was awarded a power play opportunity eight minutes into the third period and regained its lead for the third time in the game as Jackson Jutting went blocker-side high from out in front of the net. The Vikings continued to battle back as T. Hennen tied the game with 8:15 remaining in the frame as he one-timed it past Mattias Scholl's glove for his second-season goal. Both teams shared possession of the rubber in the final minutes of play but overtime was needed to determine a winner.

28 seconds into the extra frame, Bemidji State won a draw in Augustana's zone and opened up the lane for Corcoran to walk the point and net the game-winner.
