Wrestling Falls to Lopers and Huskers in Lincoln Duals

LINCOLN, Neb. – Augustana wrestling battled the Lopers and Huskers at the Holiday Havoc duals and saw Max Ramberg collect two victories along the way before ultimately falling 24-11 against UNK and 37-7 against UNL on Friday night.
 
VS NEBRASKA-KEARNEY
Augustana tallied three individual victories in its dual against UNK, starting at 149 with #6 Cael Larson. After collecting three takedowns in the first period, Larson added in another three takedowns along with a three-point nearfall en route to a dominant 21-5 tech fall.
 
At 174 pounds, Coy Gunderson logged a takedown in the first period before Dylan Vodicka took the lead into the third period with two escapes and a takedown. Gunderson then grabbed a takedown and an extra point for ride time to pull off the gritty 7-6 decision.
 
The final win from the first dual came from #5 Ramberg, who after a scoreless first period, was locked with #3 Jackson Kinsella at 1-1 at the end of regulation. But in the first overtime, Ramberg stormed out with the takedown to claim the 4-1 sudden victory.
 
VS NEBRASKA
Kyle Boeke earned Augustana's first win against the Huskers with his 8-5 decision over DezMonde Garterell. After falling behind 3-1 in the first period, Boeke rallied for two takedowns and an extra point from ride time to take the lead and seal the victory.
 
Ramberg then added to his successful night despite an early deficit. Down 3-2 heading into the second period, Ramberg downed Dominic Thebeau with a takedown and four-point nearfall. He then continued to press on the gas by adding in an escape, penalty point, takedown and a point for ride time all in the third period alone. The domination helped Ramberg cruise to the 15-3 major decision.
