CROOKSTON, Minn. - The Augustana women's basketball team knocked down a season-high 16 3-pointers and had three players score at least 20 points in a 103-71 rout of Minnesota Crookston on Friday night inside Lysaker Gymnasium.
Michaela Jewett scored a team-high 28 points and grabbed a career-high 16 rebounds while knocking down six 3-pointers and recording two blocks.
Lauren Sees followed with 26 points, including 18 in the second half, while making five 3-pointers.
Jennifer Aadland collected her second consecutive double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds while adding a pair of blocks.
CJ Adamson dished five assists to lead an offense that assisted on 20 of their 40 buckets.
The Vikings (7-16 overall, 6-13 NSIC) shot a scorching 16 of 31 from beyond the arc while limiting the Golden Eagles (9-16, 6-13) to just 4 of 18 from deep. AU also outrebounded UMC 52-38 and outscored them 23-4 off the bench.
Jewett knocked down a pair of 3-pointers and Sees got three the hard way before Aadland knocked down a 3-pointer of her own to take a 12-2 lead less than two minutes into the ballgame.
The 3-point flurry continued in the first as a three from Sees, a three from Jewett, and two threes from Aadland were a part of a 15-4 run to grow the AU lead to 29-10 with 2:43 to play in the quarter.
After a UMC layup, the Vikings went on a 6-0 run over a minute stretch to take their largest lead of the first half at 35-12, but the Golden Eagles went on to score the final seven points of the quarter to cut its deficit to 35-19 into the second.
Aadland scored the first seven AU points in the second quarter to inch ahead 42-25 with 6:34 left in the half. The Golden Eagles hit a 3-pointer before Jewett poured in five in a row to go up 19.
With 2:47 left and the Vikings ahead 20 points, the scoring slowed as the Golden Eagles scored the only three points to bring the game to 52-35 in favor of AU.
Jewett had 22 first half points and seven rebounds while knocking in five 3-pointers, and Aadland added 16 points to lead the Vikings to their highest scoring half of the season.
The offense stuck around for the second half, as Sees scored 10 points in a 14-2 Viking run to open the half and grow the AU lead to 66-37 less than four minutes in.
The Golden Eagles chipped back into the game to close the third quarter, outscoring the Vikings 17-8 before a Jewett 3-pointer to close the half gave AU a 77-54 lead into the final frame.
Sees sank a 3-pointer to open the scoring in the fourth quarter, a basket that would open up a stretch that saw the teams alternate buckets eight times.
Izzy Moore made a layup with 6:11 left in the game to open a 7-0 run, finished off with a Sees 3-pointer and Aadland layup to give the Vikings a 92-62 lead with 4:11 remaining.
The Golden Eagles got within 27 late, but an Adamson jumper and four points from
Johanna Miller led a 7-1 run to end the game and bring the game to its final score.
The Vikings conclude their regular season road schedule on Saturday afternoon, taking on MSU Moorhead at 3:30 p.m.
