SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Augustana hockey dropped a Saturday night exhibition to the United States National Team Development Program by a narrow score of 3-0 inside Midco Arena. Augustana finished its inaugural season presented by First PREMIER Bank / PREMIER Bankcard with a record of 12-18-4.
Augustana played most of the first period on the power play as the U.S. was dinged with three minor penalties throughout the opening 20 minutes. USNTDP found the back of the net late in the frame with a goal in the final minute. Augustana edged the Development Program on the faceoff dot 15-14.
The U.S. opened the second period with offensive pressure, taking advantage of its possession throughout the opening 10 minutes. Augustana fired back with offense but couldn't find the equalizer. Cole Eiserman pushed the USNTDP's lead to two with a shot from tight below the faceoff dot.
Kamil Bednark netted the United States' third goal of the game as he tipped a shot in front of the crease. A slew of penalties were called throughout the final eight minutes of play with both teams sharing time on the man-advantage. The U.S. walked away with a 3-0 win in Augustana's final game of the season.
