Viking Softball Welcomes Wayne State for Doubleheader Wednesday

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Augustana softball is set to host Wayne State on Wednesday at Bowden Field. The Vikings, holding first place in the NSIC, are riding a 16-game winning streak while holding an unblemished record at Bowden Field. Game one is slated for 4 p.m. while game two should be the first-ever game under the lights at 6 p.m.

About the Wildcats
Wayne State is 7-33 overall and 3-13 in the NSIC. The Wildcats are coming off a 9-1 win at Bemidji State which snapped a five-game skid.
 
It's the Jordyn show for WSC as Jordyn Klein and Jordyn Rochholz have each recorded a team-best 35 hits while its Klein who owns a team-high .280 average. Dylan Sweeney holds the team lead in home runs with two.
 
Pitching wise, Grace Lucka is 5-7 with a 4.92 ERA. She has 69 strikeouts in 74 innings pitched.
 
About the Vikings
Augustana has swept eight-straight series and is 34-13 overall while playing the nation's 11th toughest schedule. The Vikings are 19-1 in the NSIC. Amongst the success in the NSIC, the Vikings have seven of their hitters batting .394 or better led by Gracey Brink's .508 average.
 
For the year, Desi Cuevas is batting .439 while Torri Chute has pummeled 14 home runs as part of her 52 RBI. Kennedy Buckman is the reigning NSIC Player of the Week while batting .340 for the season with 12 home runs.
 
As a team, Augustana ranks fourth in the nation with 464 hits and fifth in the country with 96 doubles. Both of those marks lead the NSIC.
 
In the circle, Grace Glanzer continues to be amongst the nation's best with her 16 wins and 0.78 ERA. Her ERA ranks fourth nationally while her WHIP of 0.67 leads NCAA Division II. Lexi Lander is 10-5 with a 2.41 ERA giving AU a strong 1-2 punch.
 
One Last Thing
Augustana head coach Gretta Melsted is sitting at 797 career wins. She owns 716 wins at AU and when combined with her 81 victories at Culver-Stockton, the 2024 NFCA Hall of Fame inductee has a strong possibility of reaching No. 800 in the near future.
